RN Support

Position Description

 

Objectives of the position:  Caring Families Pregnancy Services INC is a faith-based nonprofit who serves the women and men of our community by providing spiritual, emotional, educational, and material support to them as they seek help with pregnancy related issues. The RN Manager is responsible for overseeing Caring Families medical services, both in the Center and on our Mobile Unit, ensuring that the upmost quality client care is being administered as well as overseeing and updating policies and procedures.

 

Reports to:  RN Manager (in their absence, The Executive Director, and Medical Director)

 

Supervises:  Varies and depends on individuals and staffing needs.

 

Status:   Part-time 4-12 hrs. a week; Per Diem

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  • Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position.

  • Agree with and be willing to uphold the Commitment of Care and Competence, Core Values, Statement of Faith, and policies of Caring Families.

  • Experience in office operations and general management of running an office.

  • Have a Bachelor or Master degree in nursing.

  • Holds a current RN License in good standing with the State Medical Board

  • Exhibit proficient organizational skill and data entry skills.

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and responsible.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

 

  • Be knowledgeable and comfortable answering patients’ medical questions, educating about reproductive cycles, gestational body changes, STI’s and other matters related to pregnancy and childbirth.

  • Review, update and help maintain Caring Families Policies and Procedures, standards of practice, to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies as required by the State of Connecticut

  • Communicate information concerning client care, the center, and personnel activities to Executive Director in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Review and oversee that client medical records and documents are being maintained accordingly per Policies and Procedures measures

  • Ensure that all medical equipment is being properly operated, cleaned, and maintained.

  • Manage inventory and ordering of prenatal vitamins, pregnancy tests, and other medical/ultrasound supplies for the organization.

 

 

 

 

Nursing Care

 

  • Provide and oversee and direct nursing care: administering pregnancy tests, comprehensive record keeping, assisting with ultrasound examinations.

  • Oversee accurate records are maintained and that physician standing orders are in place and up to date.

  • Administer STI Testing which includes administering the tests to clients and preparing and packaging tests in adherence to Standing Orders and Policy and Procedures.

  • Oversee patient/family education programs pertaining to pregnancy, breastfeeding and newborn/infant health care and well-being.

 

Public Relations

 

  • Support Executive Director with building with key community groups by staying current with Community Health Agencies, Churches, High Schools, Community Colleges, Colleges, Universities, Medical Fairs, and other Women’s Advocate Agencies as time allows.

  • Participate in Community Health Fairs and Outreaches as time allows.
